Simple steps to manage stress at work

Not everyone knows how to deal with stress at work, even though everyone has faced it. After all, stress takes away a lot of our strength and energy, which leads to poor working ability, diseases, and other problems. You need to learn how to handle it and not let it spoil your life and work. Perhaps you get used to everything over time. But in IT business, strong challenges constantly happen. Stress will affect well-being, relationships, sleep and appetite, and, productivity. So what to do? Stress certainly exists in our lives, and sometimes it takes up too much space. Next, we talk about ways that will help in the fight against stress.

Step number one

Take 10-minute breaks at least every 2 hours. To cope with stress at work, you need to take a 5/10-minute break every hour, and during this time do light physical exercises or a simple workout.

Step number two

Air out space for 10 minutes. Fresh air is extremely useful for brain activity. Your well-being, mood, and performance depend on the cleanliness and freshness of the air in the room. Regular and proper ventilation is an important component in the formation of a healthy microclimate.

Step number three

Plan your work. One of the strongest stress factors is chaos. To reduce its impact on your life, learn how to plan work to the smallest detail. A convenient and consistent schedule will greatly facilitate your life.

Step number four

Drink more water – it will help you to feel better and bring energy. Therefore, you need to drink about 1,5-2 liters of clean water per day. Drink water every 2 hours of work, and you will notice the result soon.

Step number five

Love what you do! If you can’t stop hating your work, maybe it is time to change it. We spend most of our time at work, and, if we really don’t like it, we can experience tremendous stress. Enjoying your work will help you become calm and happy.

How to limit the effects of stress

So that stressful situations at work do not leave an imprint on personal life, you do not need to mix these areas. Limit your working time to being in the office or, if working remotely, with clearly defined hours. Leaving after a hard and productive day, leave all the gadgets in the workplace. By the way, they should be divided into workers and personal.

The same applies to communication on work issues in social networks: highlight the hours during which you correspond with colleagues. This will allow you not to be distracted in the office, as well as not to “take” a working communications home. Come up with positive rituals at the end of the day – they will be your reward for productivity. It can be a favorite coffee, a sticker, a call, or a pleasant informal meeting.

Focus on specific tasks

Effective work without additional stress is possible – you need to draw up a plan of tasks and consistently carry them out, putting aside social networks and the desire to chat with colleagues. One of the working methods is the ‘Pomodoro technique’: alternating 25 minutes of intensive work with 5-10 minutes of relaxation.
